Hello, world: starting a blog

A first post to kick things off—why I'm writing, what to expect, and how this blog is put together.

Welcome to the blog. This is a sample post that exists so the layout, typography, and navigation can be reviewed before real writing lands here.

Why write at all?

Writing is a way of thinking out loud. Most of the interesting parts of engineering work—trade-offs, dead ends, and the reasons behind a decision—never make it into a commit message. A blog is a place to keep them.

What to expect

  • Notes on cloud infrastructure and platform engineering.
  • Short write-ups of tools and workflows I find useful.
  • Occasional reflections on building software with small teams.

If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.

How it's built

Posts are typed content objects rendered by the same TanStack Start app as the rest of this site. Adding a post is a matter of appending an entry like this one:

blogPosts.push({
  slug: "my-next-post",
  title: "My next post",
  publishedAt: "2026-10-14",
  body: [{ type: "paragraph", text: "..." }],
})

Thanks for reading—more soon.
